Origin Energy

Frank Calabria

Frank Calabria is the CEO of Origin, one of Australia’s leading energy companies. Origin has 4.5 million customer accounts, a large power generation portfolio and interests in natural gas production and LNG export via Australia Pacific LNG. Frank first joined Origin as Chief Financial Officer in 2001 and was appointed CEO in October 2016.

In 2022, Origin launched a refreshed ambition and strategy to lead the energy transition through cleaner energy and customer solutions alongside a suite of ambitious emissions reduction targets, including a long-term aim to be net zero emissions by 2050. Executing this strategy will see Origin bring forward its exit from coal fired generation to as soon as August 2025, accelerate investment in renewable energy and storage, and evolve its portfolio of products and services, which includes rooftop solar, batteries, EVs and a virtual power plant through which it can orchestrate distributed energy assets in homes and businesses.

Frank continues to be a leading advocate on behalf of Origin customers for energy policy that encourages investment in cleaner, reliable and affordable energy supply.

Under Frank’s leadership, in 2021 Origin became a signatory to 40:40 Vision, the investor-led initiative targeting gender balance in executive leadership by 2030. In FY2022, women in senior leadership at Origin reached 40.8 per cent and female Board representation rose to 40 per cent. A focus on delivering equal average pay for men and women at each job grade was also reached in FY2022.

Frank is a Director of the Australian Energy Council and the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association.
