Francisco LaysonFrancisco Layson is a Director at SJB’s Sydney studio and has played an instrumental role in supporting the growth of the urban design studio. With a wide range of experience gained across projects for state and local government as well as private sector clients, Frankie is an expert at unlocking the complexities of a brief and balancing the needs of diverse stakeholders to deliver responsive urban design solutions.

Frankie approaches each project through a sustainable lens, advocating for sustainable design and greening solutions wherever possible. Internally, Frankie founded the sustainability focus group, ensuring SJB plays an active part in the industry to reduce carbon emissions and minimise the environmental impact of buildings throughout their lifecycle. Frankie also drives the studio’s People and Culture arm, responsible for onboarding, staff lifecycle and staff initiatives.

Accustomed to working with multi-disciplinary teams, Frankie is skilled in achieving rapid consensus to ensure a project gains momentum and realises its aspirations. He is currently leading the parametric modelling program at SJB and is an advocate for evidence-based computational driven design.

Francisco Layson is a Member of the Champions of Change Architects Group established in 2015 in partnership with the Australian Institute of Architects. The Group is committed to working together to proactively address the issue of gender equality, and women’s representation in leadership in Australian architecture practices, and across the profession.
