Leading on Inclusive AI
Our vision for Inclusive AI is that equality and inclusion are intentionally built into how AI is governed, designed, developed, implemented, accessed and used, shaping a fairer future for all.

The rapid acceleration in the development and use of AI is already reshaping decisions, work and opportunity. This is a rare moment to take leadership action, ensuring gender equality and inclusion are built in from the outset.

We invite you to join the movement for Inclusive AI.

Inclusive AI Pledge

The Inclusive AI Pledge is a personal commitment to be intentional about Inclusive AI and help build a movement of people who care. It doesn’t bind your organisation. It signals your commitment and encourages others.

Once you’ve completed the Pledge, you’ll access the Inclusive AI Prompt.

The Inclusive AI Prompt and design principles help to proactively and intentionally bring equality, fairness, safety, respect and inclusion into everyday AI use. The Prompt supports more thoughtful inputs and outputs for review; it does not replace human testing and oversight.

Complete the form or support the Inclusive AI Pledge to access the prompt.

Leading on Inclusive AI: A practical guide offers early inspiration and practical actions from leaders across industries and sectors, including Australia’s most AI advanced organisations, leading technology companies, those in growth sectors, as well as those just starting out.

Available to download on Tuesday 20 October 2026.

Background to the Inclusive AI Pledge

In 2012, Champions of Change, in partnership with the Women’s Leadership Institute Australia (WLIA) and Chief Executive Women, pioneered the Panel Pledge to ensure women’s voices were heard and valued in public forums. That initiative demonstrated how a simple leadership action could transform and elevate women’s visibility, voice and representation.

Today, as artificial intelligence (AI) is used to support communication, decision-making and design processes, we have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to leverage AI to help embed equality and inclusion into everything we say, do and deliver.

The Champions of Change Inclusive AI Pledge involves using very specific gender equal and inclusive prompting whenever you interact with generative AI tools.

Like the Panel Pledge, the Inclusive AI Pledge turns intent into everyday leadership action. It sets clear expectations for how AI is governed, designed, developed, implemented, accessed and used so equality and inclusion are built in from the outset, not added later.

Join us in using AI to build a more gender equal, inclusive, fair, safe and respectful future by supporting the Inclusive AI Pledge.

What is the Inclusive AI Prompt?

The Inclusive AI Prompt is a practical leadership tool developed by Champions of Change. It draws on more than 15 years of expertise in advancing inclusive gender equality across workplaces, systems and decision-making.

It is informed by extensive testing and application across 100+ real-world scenarios, spanning policy, procurement, communications, product and system design. The Prompt translates the Coalition’s proven frameworks into a clear, accessible, and repeatable way for leaders and teams to use AI responsibly, ensuring it strengthens, rather than undermines, gender equality. It also applies Plan International’s Gender Compass messaging guide so you can share your vision and convey your message to a much broader audience.

The Inclusive AI Prompt encourages AI output that:

  • Builds inclusive gender equality into your work by design, not as an afterthought.
  • Strengthens inclusivity and avoid unintended bias.
  • Helps ensure credibility and trust with diverse stakeholders.
  • » Why use the prompt?

Artificial intelligence (AI) including large language models (LLMs) are trained on historical data. Without clear direction, outputs can default to outdated gender roles and stereotypes, or prioritise efficiency and popularity over safety, dignity and equity.

  • » When to use it?

Use it to interact with AI as it supports you in your work, be it the development of a system, product, service or piece of communication.

  • » What to expect?

This prompt will provide inclusive options and highlight risks and opportunities for you. As always, the final approach and decision rely on your professional expertise and judgement. The more detail you put in, the more gender-equal and inclusive the outcome will be.

By consistently applying the Inclusive AI Prompt, we turn intention into action, ensuring that uses of AI reflect the fairness, diversity and respect we want to see in the future.

About the Inclusive AI Practical Guide

Leading on Inclusive AI: A practical guide brings together actions and emerging practice shared by Champions of Change Members.

The Practical guide is for organisations at different stages of AI adoption, from those beginning to consider it’s use to those developing and deploying AI systems. The guide outlines actions across five key areas where leadership can change the default trajectory of AI transformations in workplaces.

It is a first edition, shared now so others can use it, test it, adapt it and help strengthen future practice.

The guide will be made available on Tuesday 20 October 2026.
