Message from Champions of Change
When Champions of Change was founded, we started with a simple belief: when leaders listen, learn and lead with practical action and accountability, progress on workplace gender equality can accelerate.
Over the years, we have seen that belief tested and proven in organisations, sectors and workplaces across Australia and beyond.
Our refreshed strategy reflects what’s been achieved so far and where leadership is now most needed.
It shows that Champions of Change continues to evolve with purpose – going deeper on the system barriers that hold people back and on the incredible opportunities we have now before us to design equality and inclusion into the future, from the start.
Our ambition is clear: practical action, stronger accountability and broader impact for workplaces, families, communities and the country.
My sincere thanks to the many people who believe in and contribute to achieving our vision.
– Elizabeth Broderick AO Founder
This strategy sets a clear trajectory and shared agenda for the next phase of Champions of Change. It builds on the progress we have made, while also reflecting that the operating context has shifted considerably over recent years.
It responds, by focusing on areas where we can have the greatest impact: strengthening inclusive leadership, unlocking workforce participation and progression, creating workplaces where everyone can thrive, and designing equality and inclusion into the systems that shape people’s working lives.
Achieving these ambitions will require us to be more targeted, more connected and more ambitious in how we work with Members, partners and policymakers. While our focus is Australia, we also believe Champions of Change can be an international lighthouse of what is possible when leaders and organisations work collaboratively to advance gender equality and inclusion.
Champions of Change was founded through the visionary leadership of Elizabeth Broderick AO, which continues to this day. The strategy is now carried forward by thousands of leaders across Australia who are our Convenors, Members, Implementation Leaders, key partners, stakeholders and of course, our wonderful team.
On behalf of the Board, we thank you for your guidance, support and investment in Champions of Change and this next chapter.
We look forward to working with you to achieve the bold goals set out in this strategy.
