Implementation Leaders and colleagues are invited to take part in an online cross-coalition workshop on “Inclusive PPE/PPC.”
Background
Personal protective equipment and clothing (PPE/PPC) is essential for keeping millions of workers across the world safe. Yet, too often, it is designed with only a limited group of workers in mind. The result can be equipment that does not fit properly, compromises safety and/or leaves people feeling excluded.
The Fire and Emergency Services Group has developed a draft framework for ensuring modern PPE/PPC is fit for all. This workshop will bring together people from a wide range of sectors to test and strengthen this potentially ground-breaking framework.
Note – Personal Protective Equipment and Clothing (PPE/PPC) refers to the specialised gear designed to keep people safe at work — such as helmets, boots, gloves, jackets, masks, hi-vis vests and clothing — rather than everyday office wear.
Workshop
The 90-minute online workshop will include:
- Examples from a variety of industries on PPE/PPC challenges and progress
- An introduction to the draft Coalition Inclusive PPE/PPC framework
- Small group discussions to provide feedback and identify sector-specific priorities and collective action we could take to accelerate change
- Sharing of ideas and practical actions that can be applied in different contexts
If you are attending this workshop, consider who in your organisation uses PPE/PPC, how often they rely on it, and whether it truly supports their safety, comfort and inclusion. Think about challenges such as fit, supply, maintenance, responsiveness, or support for different life stages — as ill-fitting PPE/PPC is not just inconvenient but a safety, compliance and inclusion risk that impacts wellbeing, effectiveness and retention.
We look forward to your participation in this important cross-sector conversation on inclusive PPE/PPC.
