Simon Rothery

Simon Rothery joined the Champions of Change Founding Group in 2012.

Simon Rothery is Chief Executive Officer of Goldman Sachs Australia.  He has overall responsibility for the firm’s businesses across Australia and New Zealand and is a member of the Goldman Sachs Asia Pacific Management Committee and the Asia Pacific Securities Operating Committee.

Since joining Goldman Sachs in 1998, Simon has held senior positions within the firm in Hong Kong, United Kingdom and Australia in Capital Markets, Derivatives, Equities, Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities.  He was previously Co-Chief Executive Officer of Goldman Sachs & Partners and Goldman Sachs JBWere, which preceded the full acquisition of the Australian and New Zealand businesses by Goldman Sachs Group Inc. in 2011. Simon is a partner of Goldman Sachs.

Simon serves on the boards of the Australian Financial Markets Association, the European Australian Business Council, Murdoch Childrens Research Institute and Swimming Australia. He is also a Member of the Business Council of Australia, the Great Barrier Reef Foundation Chairman’s Panel and both Knox Grammar School and Pymble Ladies’ College Councils.

Simon holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University.

The Founding Group was established in 2010 and comprises CEOs, Board Directors, Commonwealth Government Department Secretaries, University and Military leaders. Members of the Founding Group are committed to advance gender equality across their organisations and across the country. They focus on action in the areas of women’s representation in leadership, talent development, accountability and public advocacy.
