Ron Steiner has stepped into the interim Netball Australia CEO role. He brings a rare depth of experience as a senior executive, non-executive director, executive coach, advisor and facilitator across multiple industry settings and economic cycles. Ron’s background is diverse, having played leadership roles in an ASX-listed corporation and Australia’s highest profile national sporting organisations, and worked closely with leaders of privately held companies, leading universities and not-for-profit organisations.
Ron is known for bringing senior leaders, teams and organisations together to navigate complex challenges. These include addressing strategic choices in an uncertain world, transforming organisational cultures, enhancing governance and decision-making, pursuing customer-focused operating models, developing stakeholder relationships and managing succession at an executive, board and stakeholder level.
Ron’s track record as a successful executive coach and facilitator emanates from his ability to thoughtfully and directly challenge and grow individuals and teams. Boards and executive teams spanning the private, public and not for profit sectors utilise Ron as a facilitator to help define their purpose and optimise their strategic planning in an executable way that drives performance.
Ron views and demonstrates challenges and people through a multifocal lens, developed via his consulting portfolio in the areas of executive and board leadership, strategy and stakeholder relationship development. This is complemented by his extensive executive and non-executive experience in business, sport and the not-for-profit sector.
Ron has lectured at the Deakin and Victoria Universities post-graduate Schools of Management and Marketing and at RMIT, and is a regular MC and presenter at conferences and other events.
Ron is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has a range of community interests, including as a recently retired Director of the Alcohol and Drug Foundation; former member of the Melbourne University International Law Advisory Board; Life Member and former President of the Melbourne University Cricket Club and Life Member of the Weary Dunlop Club.
Ron Steiner is a Member of the Champions of Change Sport Group established in 2015. The Sport Group includes leaders from every major sport in Australia, and of some of Australia’s most successful sporting clubs. The group is focused on advancing women in leadership, pay equality and creating safe, respectful and inclusive sporting environments.
