Michael Morgan

Michael Morgan joined the MFS in February 1986 as a firefighter and progressed through the ranks. During this time he has served in various departments including Operations, Employee Support and Operational Human Resources.

In 2010, Michael Morgan obtained his Masters in Business Administration, specialising in Human Resource Management. Michael is a White Ribbon Ambassador and was Executive sponsor for the MFS White Ribbon Accreditation program. In 2014, Michael was awarded the Australian Fire Service Medal for developing wellness, welfare and support programs within the MFS.

Michael Morgan represents the MFS on strategic forums across the emergency services sector and government. This work includes the State Emergency Management Committee and the Emergency Management Council. He is currently a member of the Australasian Fire and Emergency Services Authorities Council (AFAC), the Commissioners and Chief Officers Strategic Committee and sponsor of the Workforce Management Group.

On 1 July 2019, Michael Morgan was formally appointed as Chief Officer and Chief Executive Officer of the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service.

Champions of Change Fire & Emergency 

Michael Morgan is a Member of the Champions of Change Fire & Emergency Group which was established in 2017 in partnership with the Australasian Fire and Emergency Services Authorities Council (AFAC). The group includes Chief Executives and Commissioners leading more than 30 agencies responsible for fire, emergency and land management services across Australia and New Zealand. The group is committed to advancing gender equity, inclusive cultures and achieving significant and sustainable improvements in the representation of women in their workplaces.
