Michael Gollschewski, Vice President Operations Australia and President Alcoa Australia, is responsible for Alcoa’s Australian Assets comprising 2 bauxite mines, 3 alumina refineries and an aluminium smelter.
Michael has over 30 years’ experience in the resources sector and previously worked for Alcoa from 1992 until 2007 in the Australian refining operations and the Jamaican alumina refinery. Michael rejoined the Company in July 2018 following 10 years at Rio Tino where he held increasingly complex roles in the Projects and Operations areas and his most recent role was Managing Director, Pilbara Mines.
Michael has a strong track record of delivering sustainable results and has led large complex projects and been responsible for dispersed mining operations – 16 mining sites – and managing a large workforce in excess of 7000 people
Michael holds a Bachelor of Engineering, Mechanical from Queensland University of Technology in Australia and an MBA from Curtin University, in Western Australia.
