James Phillis has been in the role of Chief Executive Office of SMEC Australia & NZ (ANZ) since 2018. He is responsible for providing leadership, direction, operational management and governance to the ANZ businesses.
James has recently and is undertaking leadership and governance roles on a number of large, significant infrastructure projects including Sydney Metro Northwest (both OTS and SVC contracts), NorthConnex M1-M2, WestConnex M4 East IC, Snowy Hydro 2.0 and Melbourne’s North East Link.
James Phillis is a highly experienced professional with more than 30 years’ experience in Senior Director and Executives roles establishing, building and leading engineering businesses across a broad range of industries. James first joined the company as the Regional Director – NSW/ACT and has delivered projects and business growth in challenging and highly complex environments in Australia, New Zealand, UK, the Americas and Southeast Asia.
