The Honorable Justice Chris Maxwell AC joined the National est2015 Male Champions of Change Group in 2015
Justice Maxwell commenced practice at the Victorian Bar in 1984. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1998. He practised in constitutional and administrative law and in revenue law. In 1994, Justice Chris Maxwell was counsel assisting the Judicial Inquiry into the Australian Secret Intelligence Service.
In 2003–04, Justice Maxwell undertook a review for the Victorian Government of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1985. The recommendations of that review were implemented in the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004.
In July 2005, Justice Maxwell was appointed President of the Court of Appeal, Supreme Court of Victoria. In June 2015, he was made a Companion of the Order of Australia in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Chris Maxwell is a Member of the Champions of Change National 2015 Group. Based in Victoria, the National 2015 Group represents some of Australia’s most significant local, national and international organisations. Members work within and across their organisations to improve the representation of women in leadership positions and non-traditional roles.
